The re-naming of the Allen Hall Army Reserve Center to
Tucson Police Department ~
Allen Hall Center
will continue to honor Paul K. Allen, an Army lieutenant from Tucson who was killed shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor while covering the withdrawal of U.S. Army troops from northern Luzon in the Philippines. Allen, a Tucson High School graduate, was "firing the last machine gun as his men were crushed by enemy tanks" on Dec. 22, 1941, according to a plaque in the building's lobby.
The building was dedicated to him on Sept. 27, 1959.
