Pavement Preservation Program: Microsurfacing

Intermountain Slurry Seal, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin a micro-surfacing program on the following dates at the following locations:

Monday, May 13, 2013 and Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Harrison Road - Golf Links Road to Magdalena Road. Approaches to the intersections at Harrison Road and 29th Street, Harrison Road and 22nd Street and Harrison Road and Old Spanish Trail will also be done.

Sun Link Tucson Streetcar: Congress Street Reopens to Travel

The Sun Link Tucson Streetcar project team has completed the installation of track along Congress Street from Church Avenue to Granada Avenue.  As of Thursday, May 9, 2013, all of Congress Street is open to at least one travel lane.  Crews will continue work on the installation of signals, the overhead contact system (electrical) and sidewalks.  The final layer of asphalt will be placed later this summer.

2013 Pavement Preservation Program: Neighborhood Slurry Seal

On Wednesday, May 8, 2013, Granite Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will apply slurry seal to all the residential streets in the following neighborhoods:

May 8, 2013 -   Country Club Road to the west, Alvernon Way to the east, Pima Street to the north and Speedway Boulevard to the south.

May 15, 2013 - Swan Road to the west, Craycroft Road to the east, Fifth Street to north and Broadway to the south.

2013 Pavement Preservation Program: Microsurfacing

Intermountain Slurry Seal, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will   microsurface three different sections of City roadways on Saturday night, May 4, 2013, through Sunday, May 5, 2013. The work will take place from 7 p.m. Saturday through 8 a.m. on Sunday. This work is part of the City of Tucson’s 2013 Pavement Preservation Program.

Crews will microsurface a short section of southbound Craycroft Road approaching Golf Links Road. One southbound travel lane will remain open during this work.

Broadway: Wilmot Road to Pantano Road Repaving Project

On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin a repaving project to improve Broadway between Wilmot Road and Pantano Road. The work involves lowering existing water valve covers and manhole covers, milling (removing asphalt), repaving, temporary striping and raising utility covers flush with the new asphalt.

Pennington Street Block Party - Travel Information

Downtown will be the host of the annual City High School Pennington Street Block Party on Friday, April 26, 2013.  The block party runs from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.  Further information about the Pennington Street Block Party can be found at http://cityhighschool.org/community/blockparty/. Below is the vehicular travel restrictions associated with this event.

Pennington Street Block Party - Beginning Friday, April 26, 2013 from approximately noon until 8 p.m. Pennington Street between Stone Avenue and Scott Avenue will be closed.

Houghton Road: Irvington Road to Valencia Road -- Water Line Work at Seven Generations Way

On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, and Thursday, April 18, 2013, the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Hunter Contracting will be preforming night work at Seven Generations Way and Houghton Road. Work crews will close the entrance to Seven Generations Way between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., each night for water line work.

Motorists will be permitted to access Houghton Road from Seven Generations Way; however, access to Seven Generations Way from Houghton Road will be prohibited during the work hours listed above.

Downtown Links: St. Mary's Road/Sixth Street, I-10 to Church Avenue -- St. Mary's Road/Sixth Street Closure

On Friday, April 19, 2013, at approximately 6 a.m., Borderland Construction Company, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will close St. Mary’s Road/Sixth Street to through travel between Church and Granada Avenues to allow crews to install a 90-inch storm drain. The closure will be in place through the end of May 2013. The following information applies to this road closure only:

Cyclovia Tucson - Travel Information

Downtown and South Tucson will be the host of the first of two planned Cyclovias this year on April 7, 2013. The event begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m. Cyclovia closes approximately five miles of streets to vehicular traffic so the community can bike, walk, skate and participate in fun, free activities. Below is the vehicular travel restrictions associated with this event. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures.

Grant Road and Oracle Road Traffic Shift

On Monday, April 8, 2013, at approximately 11 p.m., the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Falcone Brothers & Associates, Inc. will shift traffic from the north side of Grant Road to the south side of the road so that demolition work can begin on the north side of Grant Road. On Oracle Road, traffic will shift from the east side to the west side of Oracle Road, again for demolition work. These two traffic shifts will be completed by 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013. Message boards are in place to advise the traveling public of this upcoming traffic shift.
