Downtown Tucson will be the host of the annual El Tour de Tucson start/finish line. This event encompasses the entire region with a 111-mile bicycle ride/race with an anticipated participation of 8000-9000 riders.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early in order to avoid traffic detours necessary for the event. Below are the vehicular travel restrictions associated with this event. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. Businesses, parking garages and parking lots are open and accessible. There are over 15,000 available parking spaces in the Downtown Tucson.

El Tour de Tucson Start/Finish Line - Beginning Friday, November 16, 2012, at 6 p.m., Sixth Avenue will be closed between 12th and 13th Streets and will remain closed until late afternoon Saturday, November 17, 2012. Beginning at 5 a.m., Saturday, November 17, 2012, Sixth Avenue will be closed from 13th Street to 22nd Street, and westbound 22nd Street from Arizona Avenue to Mission Road will be closed (eastbound 22nd Street will be open to traffic with no left turns permitted across the race route), and the eastbound I-10 frontage road will be closed between Cushing Street and 22nd Street. These streets will reopen by late afternoon Saturday, November 17, 2012, after the last rider has returned to the start/finish line.

Access to downtown is provided from the north by using either Stone Avenue or Sixth Avenue; from the east by using Broadway Boulevard or Aviation Parkway, from the south by using Euclid Avenue and turning left on Broadway Boulevard; or from the west by using 22nd Street to Euclid Avenue and turning left on Broadway Boulevard.

otorists driving in the downtown area may experience traffic delays associated with this event and several road improvement projects, including the Sun Link Tucson Streetcar project, so please plan accordingly. The traveling public should use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in these areas. Please watch for event participants, obey all traffic control, and watch for detour signs and personnel providing traffic control.
