CITY MANAGER REFLECTS ON PROGRESS IN 2013 AND OUTLINES VISION FOR 2014 - Tucson City Manager Richard Miranda says the City made impressive progress last year in a number of areas. In a holiday message to employees, the Manager praised the City workforce for finding new ways to be more efficient and stretch the community's tax dollars as far as possible. He says opportunities and challenges will be even larger this year, with the launch of Sun Link Streetcar and ongoing road construction projects, but he trusts the Mayor & Council, employees and citizens will come together to face those challenges.

CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL AT REID PARK TOMORROW - The 6th Annual UApresents Children's Festival includes interactive arts and science activities, live entertainment and community resources for children and families. GANGPLANK MERGES INTO NEW STARTUP - Downtown Tucson's technology and innovation scene continues to grow rapidly. Gangplank Tucson, a downtown co-working space, has merged its operations into Startup Tucson, a nonprofit group that helps entrepreneurs.  Now known as CoLab Workspace, the co-op continues to occupy the 7,000-square-foot space at 17 E. Pennington St., in the Pioneer Building. Startup Tucson Founding Chairman Justin Williams says the merger provides an increased focus on local collaboration, while maintaining a strong regional connection with Chandler-based Gangplank Collaborative. Gangplank sites offer free, collaborative co-workspace with opportunities for networking with entrepreneurs and meeting with contractors, investors and future staff.
