Overview

The City of Tucson, in conjunction with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), is planning improvements to Sabino Canyon Road from just south of Tanque Verde Road to Kolb Road. The proposed improvements would include two lanes of traffic in each direction, bike lanes and a multi use path or  sidewalks along Sabino Canyon Road. This project is part of the $2.1 billion, 20-year RTA plan that was approved by voters in May 2006

Environmental documents for proposed improvements to Sabino Canyon Road, from south of Tanque Verde Road extending it to Kolb Road, are currently in progress. Once the draft Environmental Assessment has been completed, it will be made available to the public and there will be a public hearing to obtain comments and feedback on the document. The hearing is currently anticipated for 2013.
