Downtown Tucson will be the host of the annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade on Sunday, March 17, 2013. The Festival will take place at Armory Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Parade will begin at 11 a.m. and commence at Stone Avenue and 17th Street, proceed north on Stone Avenue to Jackson Street, turns east and crosses Scott Avenue to Sixth Avenue and ends at Armory Park. Additionally, in the University of Arizona area, the KOMEN Race for the Cure will begin at 7 a.m., Sunday March 17, 2013. The race will be routed down the southbound right lane of Campbell Avenue to Sixth Street, turns right onto the westbound right lane of Sixth Street to Tyndall Avenue, turns north on Tyndall Avenue to Second Street, turns west on Second Street to Euclid Avenue, turns right onto the northbound right lane of Euclid Avenue to Speedway Boulevard, turns right onto the eastbound right lane of Speedway Boulevard to Campbell Avenue and returns to the starting point at Third Street near Campbell Avenue. Attendees of both events are encouraged to arrive early in order to avoid traffic detours necessary for these events. Below are the vehicular travel restrictions associated with these events. Please note that pedestrian and bicycle access is being maintained in and around road closures. Businesses, parking garages and parking lots are open and accessible. There are over 15,000 available parking spaces in the Downtown Tucson.

St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade - Beginning Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 10 a.m. until approximately noon, Sixth Avenue between 12th Street and 18th Street will be closed; Stone Avenue between 18th Street and Broadway will be closed and northbound traffic will be detoured to Fourth Avenue. Scott Avenue will also be closed between Broadway and Ochoa Street. Additionally, beginning at approximately 9 a.m., on Sunday, March 17, 2013, until approximately noon, all east-west cross streets (13th, 14th, 15th, and 16th Streets) will be closed between Fifth Avenue and Stone Avenue for parade staging. Finally, 13th Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue will remain closed until 6 p.m. to accommodate festival activities.

KOMEN Race for the Cure - Beginning Sunday, March 17, 2013 from 6 a.m. until approximately 10 a.m., the right lane of southbound Campbell Avenue between Speedway Boulevard and Sixth Street will be closed; the right lane of westbound Sixth Street between Campbell Avenue and Tyndall Avenue will be closed; the right lane of northbound Euclid between University Boulevard and Speedway Boulevard will be closed; and the right lane of eastbound Speedway Boulevard between Euclid Avenue and Campbell Avenue will be closed. Additionally, Tyndall Avenue between Second Street and Sixth Street will be closed to all traffic.

Motorists driving in these event areas may experience traffic delays associated with these events and several road improvement projects, including the Sun Link Tucson Streetcar project, so please plan accordingly. The traveling public should use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in these areas. Please watch for event participants, obey all traffic control, and watch for detour signs and personnel providing traffic control.
