The Ashton Company, Inc. under contract to the Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) is beginning work on the Kino Parkway and 22nd Street Intersection Improvement. This work consists of replacing the existing intersection with a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) and extending Kino Parkway over 22nd Street. 22nd Street will be widened to 6 lanes with dual left turn lanes and right turn lanes at the Kino Parkway intersection. Public art will also be included in this project and integrated into the new bridge and lighting design.

On Monday, October 8, 2012, the median lanes of Kino Parkway between Aviation Highway and 29th Street will be closed to allow crews to do tree salvage and clear and grub activities. Traffic control will be removed at the end of each work day. This work is expected to be complete on November 8, 2012.

Additionally, crews will begin waterline relocation work on 22nd Street from Cherrybell Stravenue to Kino Parkway. There will be intermittent lane closures during this work for eastbound traffic.

Crews will be working from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Motorists driving in this area may experience traffic delays due to reduced capacity. Business access will be maintained at all times. The traveling public should use caution when driving, bicycling or walking in this area and obey all traffic control signs and watch for detour signs and personal working in the area.
