The City of Tucson today issued notices of intent to discharge several employees from the Tucson Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division. There are civil service rules that the City of Tucson must adhere to. Pre discharge meetings are being scheduled to provide the employees with oral and written notice of the specific grounds and particular facts why termination is being proposed.

The meeting gives the employees an opportunity to present evidence on their behalf why termination should not take place. Once pre discharge meetings have taken place for the employees, additional information becomes public and will be released at that time. As required by City rules and federal law, City staff cannot comment further on these disciplinary actions until final determinations are made.

Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, City Manager Richard Miranda and Transportation Director Daryl Cole will address media today at 3 p.m., on the first floor of City Hall, 255 W. Alameda Street.
