STREET BONDS ROAD RECOVERY
FOG SEAL PROGRAM
On Sunday, October 27, 2013, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin a fog seal program associated with the voter-approved $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery.
To minimize the impact on the traveling public, crews will be working from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The dates and locations where the first three roadway improvements will take place are:
Sunday, October 27 through Tuesday October 29
Craycroft Road - Glenn Street to Grant Road
Grant Road - Beverly Avenue to Craycroft Road
Tuesday, October 29 through Thursday October 31
Golf Links Road - Aviation Parkway to Craycroft Road
Sunday, November 3 through Thursday, November 7
Broadway - Craycroft Road to Wilmot Road
Wilmot Road - Broadway to Park Place Drive
Fog Sealing is the application of a thin layer of asphalt emulsion that helps cover small roadway imperfections, cracks or other small voids and seals the existing asphalt to preserve and protect the roadway. The above schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather. During this work, travel lane restrictions will be in place, however at least one lane of travel will be maintained in both directions.
Business access will be maintained at all times during the project. The traveling public can expect delays when driving in the work area. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area.
The Road Recovery Program is funded by voter-approved bonds. All proceeds from the bonds will be used to restore and resurface City streets through Fiscal Year 2018. A Bond Oversight Commission composed of citizen volunteers is working to ensure that all bond funds are expended solely for the purpose of repairing city streets.
