A WaterSmart Business can achieve certification by:
WaterSmart Businesses receive public recognition, signs, variances from future water restrictions, and more. A business can also implement a plan to attain one of the levels below:
| Copper | Meet current codes (retrofit old building up to standards) |
| Silver | 10-20% reductions in water use Start to implement Water Management Plan |
| Gold | 20-30% reductions in water use Fully implement Water Management Plan |
| Platinum | 30% and above Stay within water budget |
